Surging temperatures, inflation &, the climate cost of high-carbon diets
Global meat consumption has increased significantly in recent decades, and human-caused greenhouse gas emissions contribute to global warming.
According to two researchers at Oxford University, your preference for high- and low-meat diets impacts greenhouse gas emissions. While it is well established that producing meat has a bigger environmental footprint than plant-based food, the study examined the broader environmental measures impacted by diets, such as land use, water use, water pollution, and loss of species.
As the world warms and living costs surge, community discontent and the risk of social unrest also increase. For this meeting, we will have two speakers to lead a discussion about global warming and consumption-based emission:
1)Charlotte Lam, member of EATcofriendly, a freelance journalist and public relations consultant, focusing on business and ESG.
2) Nathaniel Yuen is a member of EATcofriendly, an experienced marketer and sustainability advocate.Welcome to join The Economic Club of Hong Kong's upcoming meeting "Surging temperatures, inflation &, the climate cost of high-carbon diets", which will be held on August 10th from 19:30 till 21:00 at Social Room (doors open at 19:00 sharp) (3/F, Won Hing Building, 74-78 Stanley St, Central).
